Abstract

This Uganda Standard specifies safety requirements for the installation site (including plant space and services) of refrigerating systems. These requirements are essential for ensuring safety in areas indirectly associated with the refrigeration system and its ancillary components. The standard applies to various scenarios: new installations of refrigerating systems, extensions or modifications of existing systems, and the relocation and operation of used systems on different sites. Additionally, ISO 5149 is relevant when converting a refrigeration system to use a different refrigerant. Its primary aim is to mitigate risks and ensure safe practices in all phases of system installation and operation, emphasizing the importance of compliance with safety standards beyond the direct components of the refrigeration system itself.
